Synopsis[]

A ruptured water main creates an enormous sinkhole right in front of Bob's Burgers, blocking the entrance indefinitely and ruining the Belchers’ plans for a successful summer. While Bob and Linda struggle to keep the business afloat, the kids try to solve a mystery about the death of a carnie that could save their family's restaurant. As the dangers mount, these underdogs help each other find hope and fight to get back behind the counter, where they belong.

Six Years Ago at Wonder Wharf[]

The Bob's Burgers Movie starts with a scene six years ago, at Wonder Wharf in the middle of the night. Two people fight for unknown reasons in the only lit-up stand, only depicted as silhouettes. When they leave the screen, one person shoots the other, leaving them dead.

Bob caressing the practice burger.

Sunny Side Up Summer![]

The film returns to the present, during Octa-Wharfiversary, the eightieth anniversary of Wonder Wharf. Tina, Gene, and Louise are in the restaurant at eight in the morning with Bob and Linda, about to head to school. Despite the restaurant being closed, Bob is making a burger. Linda tells their kids he's cooking one for Mr. Dowling at First Oceanside Savings Banks. She and Bob plan to ask the bank man for a loan extension, with the burger as an incentive. Like Louise, Linda also needs clarification about why Bob's cooking a burger so early since their meeting with Mr. Dowling is later. Bob discreetly tells her the burger he's making now is a "practice burger." He pretends the burger heard him, so he lies to the burger and caresses it. When he finishes, he prepares a new one, thinking about adding two eggs instead of one. Linda suggests making the burger the "burger of the day." She tells her husband he should call it the "Keep Your Sunny Side Up and Cloudy Side Down, Stay Positive, Bobby, Things Are Gonna Be Okay Burger." As he's preparing it, the Belcher kids leave for the last week of school. They're excited for the end of school since they all plan to do something extravagant for summer. Tina accidentally stumbles on the growing sidewalk crack, and Linda warns her kids to watch out for it.

The Belchers start singing about their expectations for summer. Bob and Linda hope the burger will please Mr. Dowling so he'll give the Belchers a loan extension for their restaurant. Tina sings about wanting Jimmy Jr. as her "summer boyfriend." To ask him, she plans to give him a "barrette-clace," a combination of one of her barrettes and a chain, making it a necklace. Gene wants to play a new instrument he made with a napkin holder, restaurant utensils, and rubber bands and "revolutionize American pop music." Louise wishes to get rid of her pink bunny hat by the start of summer since she believes they make her seem immature.

Bob finishes his burger, and he and Linda walk to the bank across the street with a meal baggie for the bank man. However, they are shocked when Mr. Dowling rejects giving the Belchers an extension and the burger. He declares they have precisely seven days to pay the bank, or they'll repossess the restaurant equipment. He makes them leave after their sadness makes him uncomfortable.

Chloe calls Louise a baby.

Did You Just Use the B-Word?[]

The Belcher children hang out with Regular-Sized Rudy and Darryl at school at recess. Gene shows them the instrument he made, but he also wants to bring back the Itty Bitty Ditty Committee from the Season 5 episode of the eponymous title, the band they were all in, along with Peter Pescadero. Tina sees Jimmy Jr. wrestling with Zeke, and she readies herself to make Jimmy Jr. her summer boyfriend, but she fails to. On the playground, Chloe Barbash, Abby Haddington, and Harley are doing "Dead Man's drops," where they let themselves fall off the monkey bar. Harley invites Louise to join them, but Louise declines. Chloe taunts Louise, saying she's too scared her hat will fall off. They start arguing, but when Chloe calls Louise a "baby," everyone at recess is shocked and watches the encounter. Louise starts running at Chloe, but Tina and Gene hold her back. Mr. Frond comes to de-escalate the situation but runs away after Louise scares him.

The sinkhole forms!

Sinkhole Formation[]

Back at the restaurant, Linda serves coffee to Mort while Bob is in the back, muttering about the bank. He's supposed to cook Mort's burger, but Mort and Linda need to bring that up. Teddy arrives at the restaurant but stumbles on the sidewalk crack before entering. The handyman brings this up to Linda, saying it's gotten worse. Linda tells Teddy they didn't get the loan extension, but when he asks why, Bob screams at him. Linda calms her husband down, reminding him about the Octa-wharfiversary. The event will cause a lot of foot traffic and bring a lot of hungry mouths to the restaurant. Bob starts becoming optimistic again, and they start singing until they hear the rumbling outside. The sidewalk crack explodes, causing a stream of water about twice the height of the restaurant to come out. It makes a massive sinkhole right in front of the restaurant.

The kids come home from school and look at the sinkhole. Construction workers come to work on the busted pipe while police officers prevent cars from driving through the street. Bob and Linda see Mr. Dowling, and the bank man can't help but shake his head at them. Calvin, Felix, and Grover Fischoeder arrive in their golf cart to see the sinkhole. Still, Calvin's brother only wants to move on to pass out flyers for the wharfiversary. Gene reads a brochure Felix threw at the family and notices live music will play at the bandshell. Gene tries getting Calvin to let the Itty Bitty Ditty Committee play at Wonder Wharf, but Calvin ignores his attempts. As they're getting ready to leave, Linda asks Calvin to let them skip rent so they can pay the bank. Felix and Grover warn Calvin not to, but Calvin tells the Belchers, "Maybe." They drive away as Jimmy Jr., Andy, and Ollie return from school. The Pesto siblings join the hole-watch, and the young twins unknowingly give her an idea. When Louise gets closer, Linda warns her.

No One Came In Today[]

The next day, Bob and Linda work at the restaurant amid the still vast hole that prevents customers from entering. Bob spends the whole day looking at the spot while no customers enter, and when they close the shop, the Belchers go back inside with the kids returning from school, and Bob spends more of his time looking at it. Linda tells Bob to come to bed, but Bob expresses his concerns. Linda tries to make him feel better, telling him they fixed the pipe already, meaning the city will fill the hole soon. Bob decides to stop looking at the sinkhole and go to their room, and Linda tells the kids to go to bed.

The kids think about summer in their room as they prepare to sleep. Tina writes an erotic friend fiction about a fantasy of herself and Jimmy Jr. horseback riding on the beach, mentioning her imaginary horse Jericho and sexy zombies. Tina tries giving Jimmy Jr. her barrette-clace in her diary, but her real-life insecurities get to her. The oldest Belcher child worries that real-life Jimmy Jr. won't meet her expectations, and she throws her diary after soiling her fantasy with her doubts. In Gene's room, he's fiddling with his napkin holder instrument. Gene imagines the Itty Bitty Ditty Committee playing with a packed audience at the bandshell. But, like Tina, his fear gets to him, and he envisions a robot from outer space coming to Wonder Wharf to tell him to stop performing. He becomes worried no one will appreciate his new sound.

Louise converses with her collectibles, telling them about what Chloe called her. The creatures figure out it's because Louise wears her bunny ears, and they ask why she wears them. Louise tells them that her parents gave it to her on her first day of preschool. They start coming up with ways to deal with this. Melted Kuchi Kopi suggests she should her own Dead Man's Drop in the sinkhole in front of the restaurant. Louise gets her sibling and makes Tina hold a camera. They all go outside to the hole, and Louise wants her older sister to record her going into the hole. She also wants Gene to pretend to stop her in the video to make the deed seem braver. Tina tries to make Louise stop, but the youngest Belcher doesn't listen.

Louise uncovers a dead body!

As Louise is about to go in, she becomes too scared. Tina becomes happy that she doesn't have to record her sister doing something that might get them in trouble. However, the ground below Louise crumbles, and the youngest Belcher falls into the sinkhole, landing on her back. Her siblings ask her if she's okay, and Louise tells them to hand her her night light so she can see. They try pulling Louise out with a rope, but Louise's foot gets stuck in the dirt. The Belcher tries to hold on to something to see whatever's holding her foot. She unknowingly pulls out a human skeleton's rib, and the entire body emerges. All of them scream as Louise falls on her back again, and some of the dead person's teeth fall into her mouth as she tries spitting them out. They tell their parents about this, and they call the police.

Cotton Candy Dan[]

The next day, the hole becomes a crime scene with even more police officers and a forensics team looking at the remains. The Belchers realize work on the sinkhole will take longer because of its newly revealed status. Sergeant Bosco comes to watch and tells the Belchers the police found a bullet in the ribs, causing them to believe someone murdered the unidentified body. Bosco runs away after the forensics team throws stuff at him since he's only involved in robberies. Tina, Gene, and Louise go to school despite the crime scene, and on their way, Louise reveals she secretly kept a tooth because it's abnormally shaped, even for a dead man's tooth. Tina becomes worried since taking evidence is illegal, but Louise tells her she won't show anyone.

Dead Man's Tooth The Bob's Burgers Movie

However, Louise starts showing the tooth to everyone at the cafeteria for lunch. She tells the curious people what happened. Tina overhears Jocelyn and Tammy talking about how the latter received a retainer from Eli, and now they'll be summer boyfriend and girlfriend. After hearing this, Tina decides this will be an excellent moment to ask Jimmy Jr. out, but she stops after seeing him with Zeke. When Ms. Labonz comes, she asks Louise about her hat, saying she wants to get it for her three-year-old niece. Chloe and Abby hear this and start giggling, so Louise storms out of the cafeteria. Mr. Frond sees her and tries to talk to her, but she scares him away again.

The children leave school and return home, all in the living room. Bob is on the phone, trying to call Mr. Fischoeder about rent. They start talking about the dead body Louise found, and Linda turns up on the T.V. after hearing the news reporter, Olsen Benner, talk about the sinkhole. She reveals the police had identified the sinkhole skeleton as Daniel DeAngelo or Cotton Candy Dan, who worked at Wonder Wharf. Olsen adds that the police suspected Mr. Fischoeder of murdering Cotton Candy Dan, so they arrested him. The Belchers are all stunned since they definitely can't ask Calvin for rent now.

"Ohhhhhh God. Ohhhhhh no."

Bob returns to staring at the hole the next day, with only Teddy in the restaurant eating and talking about the success the wharfiversary is receiving despite Mr. Fischoeder's arrest. Bob keeps drawling "Oh God" and "Oh no" at dinner as his family watches him. He goes to bed with Linda, and she asks how he is. Her husband talks about the bad luck they're receiving, and Louise overhears this in the hall. Linda tries cheering Bob up by reminding him how he was in the past, telling him about the optimist he was who was excited about coming up with "cuckoo crazy burgers" every day. She tells Bob that he has to hit his "mopey" version in the balls, actually hitting his balls in the process. Bob winces from pain, and Linda hits them again, telling them it's a metaphor. After hearing about her family's situation, Louise gets inspired to prove the Belcher's landlord's innocence by finding out who actually murdered Cotton Candy Dan.

Emergency Kid Meeting[]

The next day, Tina, Gene, and Louise leave for school. When Louise realizes that Linda is no longer watching them, the youngest sibling pulls them aside and tells them she plans to skip school. She wants them to prove Mr. Fischoeder's innocence. Since Cotton Candy Dan worked at Wonder Wharf, Louise believes another carnie killed him. They sneakily get their bikes from behind the restaurant and go to Wonder Wharf to find Mickey, who works there. They ask the ticket seller lady at the front if Mickey's there, but she tells the children he's at Carniapolis despite telling them not to go there.

Meanwhile, Linda tries changing the sign in front of the restaurant to get people to eat there. She and her husband watch a dump truck back up to the restaurant and abandon a bunch of dirt in front of the hole. They expected people to fill the spot now, but the vehicle leaves. Teddy comes from the back and gets the two to go to the alley. He reveals he made a food cart for the restaurant that'll let the Belchers sell food anywhere. While Bob is concerned that they don't have a license to do this, Linda loves the idea.

Carniapolis/Lucky Ducks[]

Tina, Gene, and Louise arrive at Mr. Gravy Paws, the abandoned dog food factory and the region near Carniapolis. They hear numerous people yelling and try to find the source by navigating through a labyrinth of recreational vehicles. They find Mickey in the center playing "lucky ducks," a game from Wonder Wharf, with other Carnies. When Mickey hears Louise say? "which carnie killed Cotton Candy Dan," he repeats it, and everyone in Carniapolis hears this and stops what they're doing. All the other carnies get upset at this accusation and start signing about how unfair it is to be treated like this by her and their boss, Mr. Fischoeder, who they still believe killed Daniel. Tina and Gene take this as a sign to leave, but Louise also starts singing but sings about how unfair her life is, mainly how people treat her like a kid. When she finishes, the Belcher children head somewhere else, but they realize one of the carnies is following them. They reach a dead end and turn back to see the man; however, he only wants to help the kids. He reveals that six years ago, when someone murdered Cotton Candy Dan at Wonder Wharf, Felix Fischoeder was also there along with Calvin. With this revelation, the Belcher children presently assume Felix is the killer. The children go to the police station, but the carnie doesn't follow them because of his criminal history like all the other carnies.

Bob and Teddy are still waiting in the alley as Linda is doing something in the apartment. Teddy shows the metal olive bar he installed on the cart. When she finishes, Linda reveals she's wearing Gene's burger suit and puts a bikini over it. While it took some convincing for Bob, Teddy immediately accepts this, and the three go to the entrance of Wonder Wharf to sell burgers and fries.

After being ignored by the police station, the kids locate Sergeant Bosco, which surprises him since he's in the middle of a stakeout of the One-Eyed Snakes base. Bosco tries shunning them, but the Belcher children manage to get information from him about the death of Cotton Candy Dan. He reveals the Homicide department found a custom cufflink of a banana wearing a graduation hat in the sinkhole. Tina, Gene, and Louise head to Felix's treehouse after they greet Critter outside the base.

Bob and Teddy run the burger stand outside Wonder Wharf as Linda tries to attract customers by dancing. However, she notices Hugo and Ron, and they hide since they're illegally selling food on the street. They take their stand into the amusement park.

Treehouse, Go![]

The Belcher children reach the Fischoeder residence and get to Felix's treehouse since they don't want to alert him that they're there. After confirming he isn't inside the home, they try searching the house for the cufflink.

Meanwhile, Bob, Linda, and Teddy are still at the Wharf, but they decide to stay after realizing they're getting more customers here than at the entrance.

The children trying not to get caught by Felix.

The Belcher children are still in the treehouse, but now, they're in Felix's bedroom. When they hear the Fischoeder enter, they all hide on the balcony. They overhear Felix's video call with Fanny, his girlfriend who tried to kill them in "Wonder Wharf," and he reveals he will flee the country with her. Louise assumes Fanny helped Felix frame Fischoeder, so they're both escaping. The kids climb down the tree, but they accidentally get on and trigger Felix's outdoor dumbwaiter. When they get off, they pursue Felix to see where he's going and what else he's planning.

Bob starts fearing somebody will catch them selling food illegally, so the three adults decide to move the cart. However, they accidentally run over a shrine for Cotton Candy Dan. All the carnies notice this, and they start interrogating the trio. Linda tries defending herself, Bob, and Teddy, asking why the shrine was there in the first place. One of the carnies shuts her up by telling them it's where Dan sold cotton candy. The carnies start surrounding the three, and realizing that this won't turn pretty, Bob, Linda, and Teddy run away as the carnies chase them.

What's Felix Doing?[]

Tina, Louise, and Gene all follow Felix Fischoeder to Wonder Wharf, and they're confused because they thought he'd be going somewhere else to flee the country. While trailing Felix in Wonder Wharf, Tina looks at her barrette-clace and imagines Jimmy Jr. Fantasy Jimmy Jr. brings up Tina's doubts, and she pushes him away. The Belcher children see the Fischoeder enter the Mole Hill attraction, the ride for people with heart problems that Tina and Bob occasionally. The kids enter Mole Hill and don't find Felix because of how dark the inside is. However, when Gene presses many buttons, a trapdoor activates, and they fall down a slide to Orchestramaramatorium, an old exhibition the Fischoeders use as a hideout.

Carnies are still chasing Bob, Linda, and Teddy. Teddy decides to split up with them so they can follow him instead of the Belchers, but this fails since the short carnie and Fitz start pursuing them.

The Orchestramaramatorium[]

Back at Orchestramaramatorium, Felix discovers Tina, Gene, and Louise. Calvin also reveals himself to the children, and he discloses he's not in jail right now since he posted bail. They try getting Mr. Fischoeder alone so he can tell them about his brother, but the Belchers start getting distracted when Calvin gives them a tour of the ancient aquatic attraction. The older Fischoeder reveals a hidden enclosure of mini-cars by twisting the nipples on a Poseidon statue. The five of them go around in a clam car while Calvin shows secret passages to the children that let him access any facility at Wonder Wharf. When they go to the stuffed animal storage unit, the Fischoeders notice fewer plushies than expected, but they don't care too much about it.

Grover realizes Louise realized.

When they finish with the tour, they head back to the Orchestramaramatorium, but as Louise is speaking to Calvin about Felix, Grover Fischoeder arrives down the slide. Since he is Calvin's lawyer, Louise feels it's better to tell him about the revelation, so she gets her siblings to distract the other Fischoeders. Gene starts playing the Orchestramarama, the organ in the exhibition, with Calvin, and Tina talks about her problems with Felix. Felix gets uncomfortable talking to Tina, so he goes to Calvin and Gene. Tina throws her barrette-clace into the ocean from the opening in the Fischoeder's hideout. Louise tells Grover that Felix killed Cotton Candy Dan and that he's framing his brother, but Grover doesn't seem to believe her. Grover tells her Calvin is also fleeing with Grover, and Louise realizes that doesn't make sense. She tells them he cannot let the brothers escape, including Calvin, since he's their landlord. The Fischoeder brothers acknowledge Louise and Grover secretly talking to each other, so Grover brings up the Poseidon's Seacret, the submarine in the Orchestramaramatorium the brothers plan to flee by. Since Grover keeps trying to caution Calvin and Felix, Felix puts a diving helmet on Grover, and the two brothers bully and tease their cousin. Louise is annoyed by how little the Fischoeders care, so she dawdles around the hideout. Louise starts looking at the framed photos hung in the place, but the youngest Belcher notices a photograph with the cufflink of a banana wearing a graduation hat in one of the photos, with Grover wearing it. While Calvin and Felix are teasing him, Louise notices a bitemark on Grover's wrist, and she confirms it's a bite from Cotton Candy Dan after matching the abnormal tooth with a weird part of the mark. Louise secretly discloses to Tina that Grover killed Daniel, but when the Fischoeder brothers finish teasing Grover, the Fischoeder cousin notices Louise holding something. He makes Louise give it to him, and Grover realizes it's a tooth of the man he killed, so he casually takes a spear gun from one of the attractions and holds everyone in the room at spear-point.

When it rains, they start slipping, but the short carnie and Fitz decide to go to the front of Wonder Wharf before the Belchers reveal themselves to block their escape. Instead of running, Bob and Linda go to Mole Hill to find their children.

Not That Evil[]

Grover huddles the Belcher children and his cousins and throws the phones of everyone who has one into the ocean opening so they can't contact help. He admits he killed Cotton Candy Dan. Bob and Linda slide down the Mole Hill trapdoor after Linda presses random buttons like Gene, so Grover puts them in the huddle and throws their phones away. The Belchers start singing about their predicament, but Grover threatens to stop. Louise questions why he killed Daniel, making the Fischoeder cousin join in on the song. Grover reveals Cotton Candy Dan had to die for him to take the Fischoeder Family Trust all to himself, and to do that, everyone else had to be a felon. The only other person with a "clean" record was Calvin, so he intended to frame Calvin for the murder of Daniel. Louise asks why he waited six years to prepare his cousin, and he gets upset since he never wanted to wait this long. The Fischoeder cousin buried Cotton Candy Dan in a pile of dirt outside the Wharf at night, and some construction worker removed all the dirt and filled a hole in front of the restaurant, but Grover didn't know where the employee moved the body. Grover adds that he also wants to frame Mr. Fischoeder so he can take Wonder Wharf and reshape it into his imagination. Grover decides to drown them all in Poseidon's Seacret after launching the Belchers and his Fischoeder cousins to sea. The cousin will also set the pier on fire, and he thinks detectives will investigate the scene and believe the Seacret's launch caused a fire in the Orchestramaramatorium. To escape the Wharf before it combusts, Grover made a long cable out of balloon string to ignite all the stuffed animals Grover took from the storage unit in Mole Hill. The Fischoeder cousin also has an alibi, which is that he was at the gym before this, so people will believe he couldn't have killed them since he was somewhere else.

It's already night, and the short carnie and Fitz give up on finding the Belchers and Teddy, so they close down Wonder Wharf and leave. Meanwhile, Teddy returns to the restaurant's alley with the food cart. However, it almost instantly breaks down, and Teddy starts crying. Little King Trashmouth comes to lick the grease seeping out. The handyman stops crying when he realizes hockey is airing at this time, so he goes to Jimmy Pesto's Pizzeria to watch the game.

"Go, Burger People, Gooo!"

Go, Burger People, Gooo![]

Grover forces his cousins into the submarine first, and Calvin distracts him. While he occupies his cousin, Calvin catches Louise's and Tina's attention. He secretly advises her to twist Poseidon's nipples to uncover the hidden space, so she and her family can escape. Although Louise is closer, she's too scared to do it, so Tina does it instead. It reveals the room, and the Belchers flee the Orchestramaramatorium, with Calvin telling them to get help. Grover locks the Sea-cret with his cousins inside and starts pursuing the Belchers. The family goes into the clam car from before, and the Fischoeder tries shooting them with a spear gun before they drive too far.

The Belcher's car chase!

Bob tries navigating through the under-pier filled with mini-cars and abandoned rides. When they stop to find an exit, Grover tries ramming them with his own aquatic mini-car before Bob starts driving again. The Fischoeder cousin continues to chase them while ramming them repeatedly. Linda comes up with the idea to bust through the pier enclosure onto the beach. They do it, but Grover does it, too, with his vehicle. They go up the ramp to the road, but when Grover gets stuck in the sand, he shoots out a tire of the Belcher's clam. The family drives through their closed street and reaches the sinkhole in front of the restaurant. They try opening the car but can't since they damaged the vehicle after their drop onto the beach. Grover catches up to the Belchers, and he's ramming his crustacean into the Belcher's mollusk. Bob tries pressing on the brakes, but they don't work.

Grover rams the Belchers into the sinkhole.

Bob, Linda, Tina, Gene, and Louise all plunge into the hole inside the car. Grover pushes the abandoned dirt mound into the hole, telling himself that he isn't burying a family alive, and fully covers the Belchers. After he finishes, Grover drives back to Wonder Wharf to put his cousins at the bottom of the sea. The Belchers continue panicking as they try to find ways to escape their predicament. They tell each other not to breathe up all of their air, and Linda tries to sacrifice some of her air for the rest of her family by holding her breath. However, she only manages to hold her breath for a few seconds, but mere seconds turn into minutes in this situation. Louise brings out her Kuchi Kopi night light so they can see, although it keeps flickering.

When Grover returns to the Orchestramaramatorium, he launches the Seacret into the ocean. He tries lighting the fuse multiple times, but it keeps going out because it's not practical. The Fischoeder cousin finally manages to keep the fuse lit that will set fire to the whole pier, and he unconcernedly returns to the gym to validate his alibi.

Those Friggin' Ears[]

Bob and Linda are still trying to set their family free, and Louise blames herself for their situation. Louise says she only wanted to do this to prove she isn't a baby and she is brave. Her family tries comforting her. Bob tells his youngest child she's "one of the bravest people [he knows]." Louise denies this, and she essentially says her whole character is cowardly, bringing up that she only got her bunny ears because she was scared of preschool. Bob and Linda are confused by this because this wasn't what actually happened. What really happened was Louise was nervous, so Linda made a hat for Louise like the one worn by Bob's mom, Lily Belcher.

"You remind me of my mom, Louise. And with the hat, it's kinda like you two have met."

The movie cuts to a scene with young Bob and his mother, with both of them walking alone in the park in the fall with the leaves falling. Bob tells Louise how his mom always wore a brightly colored hat. Linda adds that she only stitched the bunny ears on after Louise's first day when the youngest Belcher proved her bravery, continuing by saying she slapped a kid. Bob confesses that Louise reminds him of his mom. After this revelation, Linda gives up and accepts their impending fate. Linda's resignation gives Bob determination, and he tries to find a way for him and his family to escape again. He tries driving down since he thinks the exposed metal of the busted tire will burst the plastic pipe.

The Belchers escape the sinkhole!

Teddy leaves Jimmy Pesto's Pizzeria to the front of the Belcher's residence, wondering if they're home yet. He looks down at the sinkhole as soon as the water explodes the ground once more, with the Belchers flying out. They manage to escape the pit, so the family hugs. Louise reminds them about Calvin and Felix before Teddy knocks on the clam to see what they're doing. He asks them if the vehicle they're in is their new car. When Teddy realizes they're stuck, the handyman goes to the alley to get the olive bar from the broken-down food cart and uses it to pry the clam open. Once the family is out, they're all glad to be free, but everyone but Bob points out the wet part in his pants, exactly where a pee spot should be. Bob tries ignoring this and tells Teddy to call the police, and Linda and his kids stay at the restaurant while he goes to help Calvin and Felix. However, they all follow Bob to save the Fischoeders beneath Wonder Wharf.

The Mole Hill[]

Meanwhile, Grover manages to reach the gym, but the Belchers and Teddy also get to Mole Hill. They tell Teddy about Grover and his plans to get the handyman updated. They enter Mole Hill and see the glowing fuse, but with Louise's night light, the family and Teddy see the stuffed animals surrounding the artificial mound. Bob climbs down and parkours through the railings to get to the fuse. Louise turns on the ride and gets on the coaster train because the tracks go past where the fuse ends. Bob realizes he can't reach the fuse before Louise, so he, his family, and his best friend can't do anything but watch. As Louise goes for the fuse around a teddy bear, she accidentally falls out. However, Louise quickly gets back on and navigates through the cart to get the fuse. The youngest Belcher jumps out of the coaster but pulls herself back in, revealing that she has the fuse this time. Her family cheers for her, and Teddy claps.

Sergeant Bosco The Bob's Burgers Movie

The police arrive at the pier, and a ship fishes out the Seacret with the still-living Fischoeders in them. The two brothers didn't care about the situation, as they were playing slapsies despite this. As the Belchers and Teddy are watching, Louise asks Teddy for his phone. She uses his phone to call Sergeant Bosco, who goes to the gym Grover is at. When Grover makes sure that someone at the gym can prove his alibi, he tries exiting. However, he's met with a police force, with Bosco being the first at the scene to arrest him.

The Itty Bitty Ditty Committee/Grand Re-Re-Re-Re-Opening[]

A week later, the Itty Bitty Ditty Committee prepares to perform at the bandshell in Wonder Wharf. Bob and Linda are helping them get ready while the carnies help set up the band's stage. Despite destroying Cotton Candy Dan's shrine, the Belchers helped solve his murder case. Since Linda is fixing Tina's wig, Bob is the one who has to encourage Gene, and they both hug before he and his band perform. They get on the stage and start playing, with Calvin Fischoeder playing the Orchestramarama and Felix Fischoeder in a suit providing instrumental clapping backup.

While they're performing, a different scene occurs with Bob and Linda back at the bank, giving Mr. Dowling a check for this month's payment thanks to the money Mr. Fischoeder gave the Belchers for saving him and his brother.

In another setting, Tina is at school on the last day, and Jimmy Jr. walks to her at her locker. He reveals her barrette-clace that washed up on the beach. When her crush hands it back to her, Tina takes this as a sign and expresses her feelings to Jimmy Jr. before Zeke interrupts them. When his best friend leaves, Tina kisses Jimmy Jr., and he returns it.

Meanwhile, Louise is at recess with Chloe and other children watching. Louise is preparing to do a Dead Man's drop on the monkey bar, and when she does it, her hat falls off. Mr. Frond comes to remind Louise that her siblings have detention for skipping school, but he is shocked to see Louise without her hat. However, the girl calmly puts her bunny ears back on.

Grand Re-Re-Re-Re Opening The Bob's Burgers Movie

Bob's Burgers Grand Re-Re-Re-Re Opening!

The Belchers return to the restaurant, getting ready for the next day. They all head outside to pose for their grand re-re-re-re-opening, with Bob commenting on the fine job Teddy did making the grand re-re-re-re-opening banner. Gene asks if they should still be making burgers, with his mom and siblings chiming in, saying they could do wraps or soups instead. Bob gets exasperated as he tells his family to go back inside.

The Itty Bitty Ditty Committee finishes their performance as Bob, Linda, and Teddy cheer for the children's performance, with everyone else at the Wharf ignoring them. Calvin and Felix are glad it's over because they can now bring out Johnny Jazz Hands.

Development[]

2017-2018[]

On October 4, 2017, the announcement that 20th Century Studios invited the Bob's Burgers crew to "bring Bob's Burgers to the bring screen" was made. Deadline was the first to announce the movie, with a release on July 17, 2020.[3] Soon after the announcement, creator Loren Bouchard tweeted, "We're still kicking around titles."[4] On the same day, Nerdist.com stated the movie would be a musical. [5] Bouchard confirmed this with a tweet a day later.[6]

On July 8, 2018, Loren confirmed the crew was writing the script for the movie at the studio, and they will turn it in a few days after the show's panel at the 2018 San Diego Comic-Con.[7] At San Diego Comic-Con, Bouchard announced the 2020 release of the movie, and he also mentioned that Kuchi Kopi and Louise would meet again inside her fantasy world.[8]

2019[]

On February 22, 2019, responding to a question posed to him on Twitter, Loren indicated that the film will contain the backstory of the origin of Louise's ears.[9]

On March 28, 2019, Deadline reported Bouchard and Nora Smith co-wrote the movie.[10] On April 22, 2019, editor Cris Mertins revealed the movie's working title (Bob's Burgers: The Movie) in an Instagram post.[11]

On June 18, 2019, in an interview with Aesthetic Magazine, John Roberts revealed that the movie would likely be coming out later than its currently anticipated release date.[12]

In November 2019, the movie was briefly absent from Disney and 20th Century Fox's movie release schedule, but they rectified it soon after.[13] However, on April 3, 2020, Screen Daily announced that 20th Century Studios delayed the movie nine months until April 2021.[14] John Roberts later confirmed the delay was due to the COVID-19 pandemic and the cast's inability to record dialog.[15]

2020[]

On September 14, 2020, H. Jon Benjamin confirmed in an interview with the Observer that he had logged four or five recording sessions, including a first pass for the movie's dialog recording.[16]

On November 12, 2020, creator Loren Bouchard said the movie has been hard to make during COVID-19 but still really fun. He says that it will be "more likely the movie they wanted to see" instead of having to rush it.[17] He also mentioned that the COVID-19 pandemic has given the crew more time to improve the film. Bouchard promises the animation quality will have a significant improvement over the show.[18] On the same day, John Roberts spoke out about the movie. He described the film as "big and beautiful," stating, "The artwork is gorgeous, and there's a lot for the fans. There are great songs and great moments for the characters. And it's big."[19]

On December 29, 2020, Loren Bouchard replied to a tweet asking for "even the slightest crumb for the upcoming film." He replied with a behind-the-scenes image with the back side of Jimmy Jr. and Ollie.[20]

2021-2022[]

On January 22, 2021, Disney indefinitely delayed the film's release, raising questions about the movie heading to Disney-owned streaming platforms. The film is still in production.[21]

On May 7, 2021, Larry Murphy announced through Instagram that he's recording more lines for the film, along with a still image of the movie in the background showing the Belchers standing in front of their restaurant, which has a "Grand Re-Re-Re-Re-Opening" banner on it.[22]

On July 2, 2021, in an interview with Collider, Bouchard mentioned they are still hard at work and they will make a prominent announcement on the film very soon. He said they are waiting to release the movie when theaters are back and running like normal.

On July 15, 2021, Dan Mintz confirmed he had finished recording for the film on Instagram and released an image alongside it.[23]

On September 10, 2021, Disney added the movie to its release schedule with Memorial Day Weekend release of May 27, 2022, along with the retitling of The Bob's Burgers Movie.[24]

The first trailer was released on January 10, 2022,[25] alongside a new poster.[26]

Music[]

The movie recorded the score at The Newman Scoring Stage, located on the FOX Studio Lot in Los Angeles.[27] They released a soundtrack album to digital music retailers and vinyl for the movie on May 27, 2022, the release day of the movie.[28][29]

See The Bob's Burgers Movie (A Major Motion Burger Soundtrack) for the movie's track list. For the lyrics, videos, and recordings of the songs, see The Bob's Burgers Movie/Songs.
