Mutiny on the Windbreaker is the fourth episode of Season 3, being the twenty-sixth episode overall. The episode guest stars Jeffrey Tambor as Captain Flarty.
Bob is recruited to cook, on a one night basis, by Captain Flarty (Jeffrey Tambor) on his ship Windbreaker. To entice him, the rest of the Belcher family is given a VIP card and run of the ship. Once on the ship, Bob finds the current chef's work deplorable, Linda goes crazy with the VIP card, Gene experiences confusing feelings for a manatee puppet, Tina seeks out a massage, and Louise has her nails done.
Before Bob's one night engagement ends, Windbreaker sets sail, kidnapping the Belchers, though only Bob seems disturbed by this.
This episode received lukewarm responses from critics. Rowan Kaiser, writing for The AV Club, mentioned that the episode wasn't terrible, but described the episode's premise as "[it not seeming] like a terrible premise, but it has the effect of removing Bob's Burgers from its strengths. What follows could easily have been a Family Guy episode—Chris falling for the puppet? Stewie giving himself claws? Oh definitely. Or there's The Simpsons, which actually may have done it better last season." On a scale of F- to A+, Kaiser gave it a B- rating, lower than the average rating for Bob's Burgers.
On TV.com, Noel Kirkpatrick's response to the episode was that it, again, was not terrible, but "[the episode] leaned heavily on the wacky, and was lacking in the sentimental. This wasn't necessarily a bad thing, but it meant all the weird elements needed to really coalesce, and that didn't happen."
